American Legion Post 295 hosted an Awards Dinner to recognize and honor our Boys State Delegates from John Champe, Pope John Paul VI, and Freedom High School. The dinner was held on August 17, 2022, and was a wonderful opportunity for the Post to celebrate the achievements of these exceptional young men.
The highlight of the night was hearing from the Boys State Delegates themselves, as they spoke about their experiences at Boys State and what they learned from the program. It was clear that they had gained a great deal from their participation, including leadership skills, a deeper understanding of civic responsibility, and a strong sense of camaraderie with their fellow delegates. For some, it was their first time ever having to conduct a speech in public and they did a great job.
The Awards Dinner was an opportunity to recognize these accomplishments and to express our gratitude for their dedication and hard work. We were proud to have sent 7 boys to Boys State and to have played a role in helping to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
As a Post, we believe in the importance of supporting young people and providing opportunities for them to grow and develop. Programs like Boys State are a crucial part of that mission, and we are committed to continuing to support these kinds of initiatives in the future.
The Awards Dinner was a wonderful evening, filled with camaraderie, fellowship, and pride. We are grateful for the opportunity to have hosted it and look forward to continuing to support the Boys State program and other initiatives that help to shape the future of our community. We are grateful for our delegates, parents, educators, and sponsors that made all of this possible.
