Legionnaires held Poppy Drives at the Aldie Giant and the Middleburg Farmers
Market to honor Memorial Day and support veterans. The drives were joined by some of
this year’s Boys State candidates, fostering a sense of community and service among the
young participants.
At the Aldie Giant, the drive took place on both Friday and Saturday, while the Middleburg
Farmers Market hosted the event on Saturday, May 25th. At the Farmers Market, former
Boys State candidate Tristan Carney joined the effort, and in addition to poppies, honey
donated by Persimmon Tree Farm was available for sale.
The combined efforts of these Poppy Drives successfully raised $1,100, which was donated
to the Post, demonstrating the community’s generosity and support for veterans and their
families.
