The annual Christmas party held on December 9, 2023, at American Legion Post
295 was a memorable event filled with festive cheer. The festivities began with an exciting
viewing of the Army-Navy football game, which ended in a 17-11 victory for the Army.
This spirited game set a lively tone for the evening’s celebrations. Legionnaire Annie
Lansing tended the bar, skillfully crafting holiday-themed drinks for all attendees.
Following the game, everyone gathered for a delightful Christmas dinner, featuring
seasonal favorites with a highlight meal of a roast from Smokin Willy BBQ. The evening
was filled with the joy of friends and fellow Legion members coming together to celebrate
the holiday season.
A special awards ceremony was held, where Gerry McCluer was honored as the 2023
Patriot and Legionnaire of the Year. This award recognized his exceptional contributions,
particularly to the Boys and Girls State program, growing the program from 2 Boys two
years ago, to 7 Boys the previous year, and 7 Boys and 10 Girls in 2023. The celebration
embodied the spirit of camaraderie and gratitude, making it a night to remember for all
who attended.
