American Legion Post 295 proudly hosted the annual Boys and Girls State Awards
Dinner, an event that has become a hallmark of our commitment to youth leadership and
civic engagement. This prestigious dinner honors the outstanding young men and women
from John Champe, Lightridge, Pope John Paul VI, and Freedom High Schools were
selected to participate in the Boys and Girls State programs.
Throughout the evening, attendees were inspired by the stories and experiences shared
by the delegates. These young leaders spoke about their time at Boys and Girls State,
where they gained invaluable insights into the workings of government, developed
leadership skills, and formed lifelong friendships. Many of the delegates gave their first
public speeches at this event, expressing their gratitude to the sponsors and mentors who
made their participation possible.
This year, Post 295 sent seven outstanding boys and ten exceptional girls to the programs,
setting a high standard for other posts to follow. The Boys and Girls State Awards Dinner,
combined with our rigorous interview process, has set the benchmark for excellence in
these programs at the Post level.
The evening was a celebration of the bright future these young leaders represent and a
testament to the dedication of Post 295 in fostering the next generation of civic-minded citizens. The success of this event underscores our ongoing commitment to supporting
youth programs and promoting active citizenship among our community’s young people.
