The American Legion Department of Virginia held their end of year convention this past Saturday, July 16th, 2022. The convention marked a significant transition as Commander Frank Hillyard stepped down from his year of service and passed the torch to new Department Commander Rick Oertel, who was sworn in and has already begun his duties.
Post 295 was also in attendance at the convention and received a very special honor – the Department Service Trophy for the Most Outstanding Post Veterans Service Program Department Category II. This prestigious award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the members of Post 295 to serving our veterans and the community.
The Department Service Trophy is a highly sought-after recognition in the American Legion community, and Post 295 was thrilled to receive this distinguished honor. The award recognizes the Post’s exemplary efforts in supporting veterans through their Vets Helping Vets program, which provides a wide range of services and resources to help veterans with everything from healthcare, financial services, housing, and employment.
This award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the members of Post 295 to serving our veterans and the community. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and will continue to work tirelessly to support our veterans and the community as a whole.
